Sunset at Hopi Point

We headed out to Hopi Point to finish our day watching the sunset. I took a series of pictures as we sat & enjoyed the beautiful view. These are a few of those pictures.

While walking along the rim trail we came across some bighorn sheep. At first we thought there were only two adults, but after we had watched them for a while we noticed two babies as well, but they didn’t come close enough for me to get a picture. Douglas wanted me to get a picture of him riding one, and although one of them almost came close enough to touch I told him it probably wouldn’t be a good idea.

We drove out to Desert View to see the watchtower and take a look at the trail we will be hiking tomorow. We will be hiking down to the river and then following the beamer trail up to the Little Colorado river which is in the canyon that is just visible at the top right of the picture.

Douglas really enjoyed taking in all of the beautiful views of the canyon as we stopped at several of the points along the south rim. He also enjoyed lunch with the crew when we stopped at Grandview Point.

Austin and I are in Arizona for a backpacking trip in the Grand Canyon, and Ariana insisted that Douglas accompany us. We are spending the day today on the south rim and early tomorrow morning we head down the Tanner trail. Douglas will make the trip with us, and I will take plenty of pictures.
