The view out the back of Station Wilmette is dominated by an edifice that I learned is the only Baha’i House of Worship in North America – one of only 7 in the world.
I had to do some research to find out what the Baha’i faith is all about. From their official web site:
The Baha’i Faith is the youngest of the world’s independent monotheistic religions… Baha’is view the world’s major religions as a part of a single, progressive process through which God reveals His will to humanity. Baha’u’llah (1817-1892), the Founder of the Baha’i Faith, is recognized as the most recent in a line of Divine Messengers that includes Abraham, Moses, Buddha, Zoroaster, Christ and Muhammad.
I guess the easiest way to avoid being “judgmental and intolerent” is to declare that everyone is right and that we can now live in peace and harmony! I’m not sure how they address the issues of all those “divine messengers” delivering conflicting information… It sounds very similar to some of the things being taught by the emerging church movement discussed in The Truth War by John MacArthur – a book I highly recommend.
