I had this salad at a dinner at the home of one of my thesis advisor, professor Richard Blahut, when I was in Graduate school. I loved it and asked for the recipe – Mrs. Blahut copied it for me, and told me that she got it from the Airlie House in Warrenton, VA.
Ingredients
4 cups broccoli florets
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup walnuts
1/2 cup crisp bacon pieces
1/4 cup chopped bermuda onionDressing
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 tsp lemon juiceCombine salad ingredients and set aside. Combine dressing ingredients and mix well. Pour over salad, toss and chill. Salad is best served within 2 hours.
